AN ASSESSMENT OF A LEXICO-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE’S HALF OF A YELLOW SUN

ABSTRACT: The present investigation entails a comprehensive lexico-semantic analysis of the literary work titled "Half of a Yellow Sun" (ọkara nke an odo anyanwụ).The objective of this research is to analyse and determine the organisation and categorization of identified lexical items, examine the variations and commonalities in lexical semantic structure across different languages, and investigate the connection between lexical meaning, sentence meaning, and syntax in the context of the study on HOAYS. Accomplishing this task may prove to be a formidable challenge, requiring an extensive and in-depth examination employing several emerging or recurring methodologies within the overarching context of Adichie's novel set in Cologne. Thorough and meticulous reviews pertaining to this achievement/study were also observed and obtained in order to further enhance the study's objective with a focus on the less supplied but adequately nourished aspiration to ignite the target of this research. The selection of HOAYS as the subject of this study was motivated by the limited amount of previous research conducted on the Lexico-semantic analysis of Adichie's critically acclaimed novel. Adichie's tale was portrayed by the random analysis of several candid chapters, utilising contextual lines or phrases. In conclusion, Chimamanda employs a variety of literary methods, including compound sentences followed by compound-complex phrases, parenthetical expressions, italics, transliteration, and code-mixing. It is advisable for aspiring young writers to consider adopting Chimamanda's writing style, as it enhances the vitality of their own writing. Nevertheless, the artistic approach employed by a writer, while undoubtedly imaginative, can provide a difficulty for readers. This study endeavours to conduct a linguistic stylistic analysis of Chimamanda Adichie's novel Half of a Yellow Sun. The primary objective is to identify and examine the language aspects employed by the author, while also seeking to comprehend the cultural and historical ideology embedded within the text. Additionally, the study aims to appreciate Adichie's unique writing style.
